1974
Millie Jones Welch, an English and language arts challenge teacher at Millwood Elementary School, was named first runner-up for the Sumter District 17 Teacher of the Year.

1998
Kathy Smith Lewis and her husband, Zach, announce the birth of their son, Charles Braelen Lewis, on August 12, 2008.

2000
Rachel Jones Brown teaches Art I and Art III at Hope High School in Hope, Arkansas.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Converse College.  Rachel and her husband, Robby, live in Arkadephia, Arkansas.  Robby is a coach for the Henderson State University football team.

Jennifer Alford Reimer was married to Seth Johnathon Reimer on August 2 at Wise Drive Baptist Church in Sumter.  The reception was held at Sunset Country Club and the rehearsal party was held at the Swan Lake-Iris Gardens Visitors Center.  Christian Dew ’00 was the maid of honor, and Missy Moulton ’00 was among the bridesmaids.  Following a wedding trip to Key West, Florida, Jennifer and Seth made their home in Sumter.  Jennifer, who graduated from Oklahoma City University with a bachelor of performing arts in dance performance, is the artistic director at Miss Libby’s School of Dance.  Seth, who graduated from Oklahoma City University with a B.S. in dance and arts management, is employed as an operations manager by Carnegie Hall in New York City.

2001
Patrick Galphin married Carrie Elise Levenson on July 26 at Hilton Hotel in Columbia.  The reception was held at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center and the rehearsal party was held at the Capitol City Club.  Following a wedding trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Patrick and Carrie made their home in Memphis, Tennessee.  Patrick, who graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.S. in business management, is employed as the dry ice products manager and marketing coordinator for NexAir in Memphis.  Carrie graduated from Columbia College with a bachelor of fine arts in dance and from the University of Memphis with a master’s degree in education.  She is employed as a third grade teacher by Grace St. Lukes Episcopal School and as a dance instructor at Studio B.

Mitch Nimmich married Elizabeth Saine on July 19 in Greenville.  The wedding was held on the rooftop of the Loft at Soby’s with a reception following.  Mitch, who received a bachelor’s degree from Wofford College, is a fourth-year medical student at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.  Elizabeth graduated from Wofford and is also a fourth-year medical student at USC.  Mitch and Elizabeth make their home in Columbia.

2002
Caroline DuRant lives in Charleston where she works in the marketing department for the magazine Garden and Gun.  She earned a B.S. in political science from Vanderbilt University.

2003
Clay Carruth, who earned a B.A. in English from The Citadel, is a second-year student at the University of South Carolina School of Law.  He spent the summer working in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Cauthen Stavrou, who received a B.S. in psychology from Charleston Southern University, lives in Charleston where he works for Bluegreen Vacation Rentals.

Jackson Stavrou lives in Charleston and works for Bluegreen Vacation Rentals.  He graduated from Charleston Southern University with a B.S. in psychology.

2004
Kristin Carter graduated cum laude from Clemson University and is a first-year student at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine.

2005
Laughton Jones is a business major at Wofford College where he is a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Preston Kight is a business major at The Citadel where he is a member of the college’s track team.

Katie Mayes, an early childhood education major at Converse College, was named to the spring dean’s list.  She worked as a counselor at Camp Greystone in Tuxedo, N.C., during the summer.

Thompson Kinney worked for the John McCain for President Campaign in Washington, D.C., during the summer and will continue for the fall semester.  He attended the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, during the first week of September.  Thompson is a politics major at Wofford College where he is a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Derek Moore, a business major at The Citadel, is a member of the Summerall Guard, serves as the Rod & Gun Club President, and is the Honor Representative for Lima Company.

Matt Nimmich was named to the spring dean’s list at Wofford College.

2006
Robin Davis, a psychology major at the University of South Carolina Honors College, worked this summer as a counselor at Camp Summersalt, which was held at the South Carolina Baptist Convention’s White Oak Conference Center.

Chris Evans is an engineering major at Clemson University where he is a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Brianna Fletcher, who attends the College of Charleston, worked at a camp for foster children in Tyler, Texas, during the summer.

2007
Matt Talley was a member of the P15s, Sumter’s American Legion baseball team, which won the state championship and southeast regional championship.  He is an engineering major at The Citadel where he is a member of the college’s baseball team.

2008
Katherine Brogdon is a biology major at Clemson University.

Alison Corbett is majoring in biology at the University of South Carolina.

Whitney Daugherty is majoring in biology at the College of Charleston.

Amber Hamm, who is majoring in early childhood education at the University of South Carolina, is pledging Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

Brent Klapthor is majoring in engineering with a political science minor at Clemson University.

Katie Littleton, who is majoring in nuclear engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, is pledging Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

Sean Murphy is a business major at the University of South Carolina where he is a member of the Reserve Office Training Corps.

Joanna Ouzounidis is a business major at the University of South Carolina.

Meredith Weinberg is a biology major at Davidson College.
