The Class of 2011, the 41st graduating class, joined 1,996 people who proudly count themselves among the ranks of our school's alumni.
Many of our alumni choose to return to Sumter after they finish college to start their careers and raise their families. As a matter of fact, 138 of our graduates are "legacies," or children of alumni, and over 230 of our current students are children of alumni. Alumni serve on the PTO Board of Directors, the Board of Trustees and the Athletic Association Board of Directors, and 15 of our faculty members are alumni.
Homecoming will be 7:30 PM, October 14, 2011. In honor of the crowning of Wilson Hall's 40th Homecoming Queen, all of the previous queens have been invited to campus for recognition during halftime of the varsity football game on October 14th.
Classes who are organizing a reunion are encouraged to contact the Director of Alumni Relations for a listing of alumni and current addresses. The campus is available for family-oriented reunion events, such as picnics and pig roasts, during the day.
The Class of '01 is holding its reunion the weekend of October 14th, and the Classes of '90 & '91 are holding a combined reunion the same weekend. The Classes of '85 & '86 are holding a combined reunion the weekend of October 29th. The Classes of '82, '83 & '84 are planning a combined reunion for the weekend of the 2012 Homecoming; date to be announced.
Each fall, the school presents the Distinguished Alumni Awards during half time of a varsity football game. Recipients are chosen based on their educational and professional achievements, contributions to the community, and support of Wilson Hall. The 2010 Distinguished Alumni Awards were Andy Hoefer '96 and Betsy Johnson '97. The 2011 recipients, Robert Boykin '98 and Reese McFaddin '97, will be recognized October 28th.
