The Guidance Program at Wilson Hall is involved in the school's total curriculum. The program seeks to assist our students in all phases of self-understanding and in the development of individual potential.
DEAN OF ACADEMICS
Each student's academic progress at Wilson Hall is closely monitored. The dean oversees this process in the Upper School. Programs that are available to students and parents to encourage academic success at Wilson Hall are:
-
Peer Tutors
This program is offered to students who need assistance in a specific academic subject
area. A student is paired with another student, who helps them with various study skills
and test-taking strategies concerning the subject area. All students are eligible for this
program which is free of charge.
-
Parent and Teacher Conferences
The Academic Dean will set up meetings for parents and/or teachers upon request. The
conferences are a tool for parents to communicate with their student's teachers in a
direct manner as well as a means for the teacher to express his or her concerns about the
student's classroom progress.
-
Academic Help for Students
Upper School Teachers are available until 2:45 PM Monday through Thursday to give students
extra help; however, it is the responsibility of the student to make arrangements in
advance with the teacher.
-
Academic Progress Reports
- The Academic Progress Report provides academic information to parents on a quarterly
basis.
- Interim Updates are issued by teachers throughout the year in order to help keep parents abreast of student achievement.
COLLEGE COUNSELOR
The goal of the college counseling process is to seek the best possible match between a student's abilities and needs and the college's or university's offerings and standards.
|
-
The College Counselor works very closely with students throughout the junior and senior year at Wilson Hall. All seniors are required to apply to at least one college or university where they will be accepted.
-
The College Counselor is also involved with the PSAT and SAT/ACT achievement tests. The school provides a review course for all sophomores, juniors, and seniors to aid them in preparing for the PSAT and SAT/ACT. These sessions are held in the fall and spring.
-
The college counselor nominates and assists students with merit, leadership, and need-based scholarship programs. Information concerning scholarship opportunities and financial aid deadlines is posted and available to all students.
|
OTHER SERVICES
Wilson Hall is in total compliance with the Rights and Privacy Act of 1975. The Guidance
Department is responsible for student records. They will discuss, explain, and/or make available to the student or his/her parents any records on file.
