Publications Named Best in State

The school’s newspaper, The Baron Bulletin, and the 2016 edition of the yearbook, Idylls, each won the Best in State award in the S.C. Independent School Assoc. State Publication Competition. This is the twenty-fourth time the newspaper, which is advised by Mr. Sean Hoskins and Mrs. Elizabeth Hyatt, has won this award. The newspaper, for which senior Campbell Mims served as the editor-in-chief, also won the award for Best Photography and received an honorable mention for layout and design. Senior Hunter Hendrix won the award for Best News Article for “Governor Haley Moves to World Stage.” Mims received an honorable mention for his editorial “2016 Presidential Election: A Joke” and junior Noah Harvin received an honorable mention for his sports feature “What’s Wrong with the NFL this Season?” The yearbook, for which 2016 graduates Mary Paisley Belk, Mary Margaret Munn and Grier Schwartz served as the co-editors, was advised by Mr. Hoskins, Mrs. Hyatt and Mr. Ben McIver. The yearbook also received the award for Best Photography and Best Copywriting.  There are 110 schools that are members of SCISA.
