Softball Wins State Championship

The varsity softball team captured the S.C. Independent School Association AAA State Championship by sweeping Cardinal Newman School 6-5 and 7-3 in the championship series. The Region Champion Barons, coached by Mrs. Teresa O’Hare Alexander ’98, finished the season with a record of 26-9. In the first three rounds of the state tournament, the Barons shut out all three of their opponents by a score of 43-0. In the first game, the Barons beat Ben Lippen School 17-0 to advance to the quarterfinal where they beat Augusta Christian School 16-0. In the semifinal, the Barons defeated Laurence Manning Academy 10-0. This is the fourth state championship for the Barons.

The following are members of the state championship team: Carly Allred, Camryn Bateman, Caitleigh Bryant, Maddie Elmore, Ansleigh Epps, Drake Ives, Sydney Jarecki, Liza Lowder, Becka Noyes, Kathryn Sistare, Madi Sliwonik, and Amelia Weston. Assisting Mrs. Alexander, who won her third state championship at Wilson Hall, are Ms. Emma Catoe ’13, Mrs. Kristall Hanson, and Dr. Clay Lowder ’85.
