Sprinkling holiday magic all around, Baron Care students filled the Randle Learning Center with festive fun as they created Christmas-themed crafts and decorated the center’s Christmas tree. With 198 students enrolled in the after-school program, there’s no shortage of cheerful energy, and Mrs. Brooke Tidwell and her staff keep the celebration running smoothly.

Sparking creativity and thankfulness, Baron Care students filled an afternoon with hands-on projects that celebrated the season. They wrote what they were thankful for on strips of construction paper to build a bright gratitude chain, crafted “I Am Thankful For” wheels from paper plates, and designed colorful, delicious-looking pretend pizzas. Baron Care, which serves students in Preschool 3 through 5th grade, is directed by Mrs. Brooke Tidwell.

Baron Care is Wilson Hall’s after-school program, serving 177 students from 3-year-olds through sixth grade. Running from dismissal until 6:00 PM, the program is supported by 10 DSS-licensed staff members and four student helpers who create a safe and engaging environment. Students begin with quiet homework time, daily reading, and a snack before enjoying activities that promote collaboration and play. From time on the playground to indoor games, puzzles, crafts, and movies, Baron Care offers children countless opportunities to learn, connect, and unwind each afternoon. For more information, please contact Mrs. Brooke Tidwell, Director of Auxiliary Programs, at brooketidwell@wilsonhall.org.

Baron Summer Care kept rising Preschool 4 through 6th grade students active, engaged, and learning through a variety of fun, hands-on activities, with 97 students enrolled in the program this summer. From testing their agility at the Sumter Ninja Warrior Gym and cooling off during Water Day on Spencer Field to enjoying yoga, arts and crafts, movie day, and games like Uno in the gym, there’s never a dull moment. Students also took a spin around the roller skating rink, decorated sidewalks with chalk art, and learned about safety during a special visit from the Sumter Police Department. A highlight of the summer was a calm and comforting visit from Toby, a licensed pet therapy dog. Mrs. Brooke Tidwell, Director of Auxiliary Programs, coordinated the program.

Learning continues in the summer for students in Baron Summer Care who attended the lively eSTEAM Sumter Pre-Festival Celebration in downtown Sumter in late June. They enjoyed hands-on activities and interactive exhibits focused on science, technology, engineering, art, and math, providing a fun and engaging preview of the full eSTEAM Sumter Festival coming in October.

By combining fun with continued learning, Baron Summer Care offers enrolled students in rising Preschool 4 through 6th grade a vibrant and supportive summer experience. The season kicked off with an exciting trip to Sumter Ninja Warriors, setting the tone for weeks filled with off-campus adventures like splashing, skating, reading, and movie outings. With themed weeks, creative crafts, and interactive activities, the summer staff helps students retain important skills in an engaging way. The program is coordinated by Mrs. Brooke Tidwell, Director of Auxiliary Programs.
